Locals React To Michelle Yeoh's SAG Award Win & 'That' Kiss With Co-Star Jamie Lee Curtis
"I'd do the same if I was near Michelle Yeoh."
All hail the actress supreme!
Michelle Yeoh's impeccable performance in the 2022 sci-fi flick Everything Everywhere All at Once just earned her another win at the 29th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.
Held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City California, the award show saw the critically acclaimed film nab numerous other wins alongside Yeoh's award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.
Among some of their other accomplishments, Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) also took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role, which was won by Yeoh's on-screen husband, Ke Huy Quan.
Singing praises for the actress, a swarm of people took to their social media platforms to congratulate Yeoh on her win, and what it meant for the entertainment industry in Hollywood
"Every time I see Michelle Yeoh win an award, I get so emotional. She truly deserves the world!" wrote one Twitter user.
Another person even mentioned how her win has shattered the metaphorical glass ceiling in Hollywood, as she became the first Asian actress to win the award of that category.
"Michelle Yeoh, you are loved!" penned another user.
Others even poured out their praise for Yeoh's speech, while others gushed over how they've been a fan of her for years, making this win that much more sweet.
"Michelle Yeoh, I have actually loved you from the start!" added another.
However, another notable moment at the ceremony was when Yeoh's co-star, Jamie Lee Curtis, won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
Overwhelmed by her win, a brief moment of the split-second instance Curtis found out she won has been making waves across social media, too.
After English actress Emily Blunt announced Curtis' win on stage, the actress was full of surprise. However, before moving towards the stage to accept the award, Curtis, who was sitting next to Yeoh during the ceremony, gave her a hug before planting a solid two-second kiss on Yeoh's lips.
The affection did not end there, as the 64-year-old actress continued to sing praises for Yeoh during her acceptance speech. Curtis mentioned how she immediately signed on to do her now award winning role after she found out Yeoh was cast to be in the film.
"Michelle Yeoh, Michelle Yeoh, I love you, I love you, I love you!" she said on stage.
And while many have praised the sweet moment between the two actresses, it has since brought out polarising responses from local and international fans alike
A few users who were dissatisfied with the kiss expressed their take on the matter.
"Can we stop?" asked one person. Another user, though not stating which actress their comment was directed to, said that one of the actresses deserves to be divorced by her husband.
One user even called the display a nightmare.
While some were indifferent towards the matter, some expressed their confusion over why the moment had become so highly discussed in such a short period of time
"What are we supposed to do with this information?" asked one person.
Nevertheless, multiple people praised the two actresses for showing how much they truly cared for one another.
"Iconic!" wrote a Twitter user. Another even mentioned how the instance is a clear depiction of the actresses being as close as family. "When actors find family on set," they wrote.
Another one of the comments even stated how Curtis is truly Yeoh's number one fan.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight (ET) after the ceremony, Curtis mentioned how she actually 'forgot' that she kissed Yeoh as she accepted her award
"Oh, I kissed her? Did I really, I kissed her? Well then, I kissed her," she said.
Curtis also mentioned how she genuinely loved Yeoh, and that she grew to love her as an actress even more during the process of making the film.
