As a child growing up, it was nerve-racking when our parents used to make us do things on our own to be more independent

For many, having to order food alone was probably one of them

Singaporean photography enthusiast Alex Chua recently shared a heartwarming moment which he observed at a hawker.

"While queuing for my favourite breakfast, I noticed that there was a little girl queuing in front of me," he wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday, 13 June.

Chua explained that her father came by shortly after, handed her a SGD5 (RM15) note, and told her to order food for herself.

After the father left, Chua said that the girl "kept looking around, nervous".

Moments later, her brother joined her and there was immediate relief on her face

"She stood close to him and held his hand tightly in hers. [Then] he turned to her and said: 'Don't worry. I'm here'."

Chua was able to capture the moment in a photo, which has since garnered over 4,200 shares.

The duo warmed hearts on the Internet, while several tagged and jokingly compared their siblings to the two

One person also empathised with the young girl.
