Siblings Include Phone Number Of "Still Single" Brother In Their Late Father's Obituary
"He would love that."
On 11 May, 71-year-old Chan Kok Choi passed away, leaving behind a wife, four children, and eight grandchildren
Kok Choi's obituary was published on 12 May, a day before his wake was held at Xiao En Center in Cheras.
While the obituary seemed ordinary at first glance, an almost unnoticeable detail amidst the names of his closest family members added a touch of humour
According to the single 32-year-old, his siblings included his relationship status to honour their father's "great sense of humour".
"He would love that," Heng Joon told SAYS.
The man revealed that he has been open with his family about his search for a potential wife.
"I have three married older sisters. After getting all the kids and in-laws in the obituary, there was my name by itself," he explained.
"Since it was a full page ad going out, they thought it would be quirky to include that," he added.
Heng Joon revealed that friends and family gathered at his father's memorial on Tuesday and listened to his favourite songs
"All our relatives showed up and shared with us little known details about my dad," the 32-year-old told SAYS.
"He had all the diseases and ailments in the world, and never once complained. He's still nicknamed 'sunshine' by his friends," he said.
"The most generous and kind man," he added.
