Search and rescue dogs are already superheroes on four paws, but Thailand is now testing a new way to get them where they're needed even faster
And the photos are every bit as adorable as you'd imagine.
K9 USAR Thailand recently carried out a joint training exercise using drones to transport rescue dogs into hard-to-reach areas, as part of efforts to improve future search and rescue operations
According to the organisation, the trial was designed to study how drones could support missions in areas that are difficult or dangerous for rescue teams to access quickly.
Rather than replacing human rescuers, the drones are being explored as a tool to help deploy trained K9 units into challenging terrain during emergencies.
The trial marks an early step in developing new technologies and operating procedures for future disaster response.
While the concept is promising, the organisation said more research, testing, and refinement are still needed before it can be used in real-life rescue missions
The goal is to continue developing Thailand's search and rescue capabilities by combining trained rescue dogs with emerging technology.
K9 USAR Thailand also thanked Thailand's Armed Forces Development Command for supporting the exercise and helping develop new search and rescue innovations.

As adorable as it looks, the trial has a serious purpose: finding faster and safer ways to get rescue dogs into disaster zones where every second counts.

In a separate post, K9 USAR Thailand shared that Nawon the doggo safely landed after the drone trial and made an appearance at the recent Thailand International Dog Show 2026
Visitors stopped by to meet Nawon and his fellow doggo friends, while browsing rescue-themed merchandise, including shirts, hats, and umbrellas.
All proceeds from the sales will go towards training rescue dogs, developing search and rescue teams, and supporting future disaster relief efforts.
