Eligible Muslim women and children in Selangor who have been left without court-ordered maintenance payments can receive one-off financial assistance from the state government
Under the Selangor Rahmah Maintenance Assistance Programme 2026, eligible women will receive RM2,000, while each child can receive RM1,000.
The Selangor government has allocated RM100,000 for the programme, which is expected to benefit up to 50 affected families, while enforcement proceedings against those who fail to pay maintenance are carried out, Bernama reported.
The assistance is for women and children who have an active maintenance order from the Syariah Court but are not receiving the payments ordered by the court.
According to Selangor Women's Development and Community Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari, applicants must:
- Be Muslim and reside in Selangor
- Have a household income below RM5,000 a month
- Have a Syariah Court maintenance order that is still in effect
- Have been neglected or failed to receive the maintenance ordered by the court
Applicants must also meet the requirements under the Guidelines for the Disbursement of Advances and Alimony Assistance through the Family Support Division (BSK) of the Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia (JKSM).

The payment is temporary, not a replacement for maintenance
Anfaal said the one-off assistance is intended to provide temporary financial relief to affected women and children while enforcement action is taken against the maintenance debtor.
The state government stressed that the assistance does not replace the legal obligation of the person ordered by the Syariah Court to provide maintenance.
It is instead meant to ensure women and children are not left without financial support while waiting for the court-ordered payments to be recovered.
How to apply
Those who meet the eligibility criteria can apply directly through the Family Support Division (BSK) at the Selangor Syariah Judiciary Department (JAKESS).
Applicants can visit the JAKESS office to check their eligibility and submit the application form.
The main JAKESS headquarters is located at the Bangunan Mahkamah Syariah Sultan Idris Shah in Shah Alam, Selangor.
