Malaysians who need to apply for or appeal their Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) 2026 eligibility for Phase 4 have until 30 September 2026 to do so, according to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN)
The deadline is particularly relevant for applicants whose STR applications were rejected, people with no record in the STR system, and those whose applications have issues such as overlapping information with another approved application.
Applications and appeals can be submitted online through the official STR portal, while physical applications can be submitted at LHDN offices.

Who needs to act before 30 September?
If your STR application has been marked "Tidak Lulus" (Not Approved), you can submit an appeal for Phase 4 until 30 September.
This includes applicants who were rejected during previous eligibility checks and want LHDN to reconsider their application.
People whose applications have overlapping information can also submit an appeal. This can happen when the applicant or their spouse appears as an applicant or spouse in another approved application.
LHDN's FAQ states that appeals for certain Phase 2 and Phase 4 applications involving overlapping information can be made until 30 September 2026.
New applicants may also need to submit an application if they have no record in the STR 2025 system and meet the eligibility requirements.
Applicants who are required to update their STR information should also make sure their details are current.
You cannot appeal if your STR is already approved
If your application has already been approved for the relevant phase, you do not need to submit an appeal.
The appeal process is intended for applicants whose applications have been rejected or whose eligibility requires further consideration. LHDN specifically lists "Tidak Lulus" applicants as eligible to appeal for Phases 2, 3, and 4.
How much can you receive in STR Phase 4?
The Phase 4 payment depends on your household income and number of children.
For households earning RM2,500 or less a month, the Phase 4 amounts are:
- No children: RM150
- One to two children: RM300
- Three to four children: RM400
- Five or more children: RM500
For households earning between RM2,501 and RM5,000 a month, the Phase 4 amounts are:
- No children: RM0
- One to two children: RM100
- Three to four children: RM150
- Five or more children: RM250
The maximum annual STR amounts for these household categories range from RM200 to RM2,200, depending on household income and the number of children.
For senior citizens aged 60 and above who have no spouse and earn RM5,000 or less a month, the Phase 4 STR payment is RM150, with a maximum annual STR amount of RM600.
Single applicants aged 21 to 59, or registered OKU applicants aged 19 to 59, do not receive phased cash payments through STR. Their RM600 annual entitlement is paid through Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) at RM50 a month.

When will STR Phase 4 be paid?
LHDN has confirmed that STR 2026 payments are made in phases, with payments going to approved applicants from the phase in which their application is approved.
However, the latest official STR 2026 payment FAQ, issued on 17 August, did not give a date for Phase 4. It states that subsequent payment dates would be updated from time to time.
So, unlike the 30 September application and appeal deadline, there is currently no confirmed official Phase 4 payment date.
How to apply or appeal online
The easiest way to submit an application or appeal is through the official STR portal.
Go to the Bantuan Tunai portal and select the relevant option:
- For a new application, select "Permohonan Baharu"
- For an existing applicant, log in to MySTR
- Select "Borang Rayuan" if your application is eligible for an appeal
- Enter or update the required information
- Upload supporting documents where required
- Submit the application or appeal and keep the confirmation for your records
LHDN says an online STR appeal can be made through MySTR → Borang Rayuan. Supporting documents are required depending on the reason the application was rejected.
You can also apply at an LHDN counter
LHDN says new applications, appeals, and updates can be made online through the STR portal or by submitting the relevant form at a nearby LHDN office.
Email and fax should not be treated as alternatives to the official application methods.

What documents might you need?
The documents required depend on why your application was rejected.
For example, applicants may need documents such as:
- MyKad or MyKid and birth certificates to verify identity or child information
- Marriage, divorce, or death certificates where marital status needs to be verified
- Student documents where a dependent child's full-time education status needs to be established
- Business or company documents for certain business ownership-related rejection reasons
- Vehicle registration documents for certain vehicle ownership-related cases
- A statutory declaration for certain cases involving records showing that an applicant lives, studies, or works overseas
Check your details before submitting
STR applicants should make sure their personal, household, bank, and other relevant information is accurate before submitting an application or appeal.
LHDN also has a three-year update requirement for applications that were not updated during STR 2023, STR 2024, and STR 2025. The requirement does not apply to certain senior citizen and interior Sabah/Sarawak categories.
For applicants who have forgotten their MySTR password, LHDN says three unsuccessful attempts at the security questions will result in the account being blocked for 24 hours before another attempt can be made.
What happens if you don't have a bank account?
STR payments are generally credited to the applicant's or spouse's bank account.
If there is no bank account information, or if the bank transfer fails, payment can instead be collected in cash at a Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branch.
Applicants collecting a failed bank payment at BSN must bring their original identification document.

Don't wait until the last day
The 30 September deadline applies to eligible STR 2026 appeals for the relevant phases, including rejected applications and certain cases involving overlapping information.
If you need to submit an application, appeal, or supporting documents, it is better to complete the process before the deadline rather than leave it until the final day.
Applicants can check their status and payment information through MySTR.
