AirAsia Flights To KK & Kuching Will No Longer Fly From Subang Airport Starting 7 April
If you're affected by the change, check your booking details and reach out to AirAsia for assistance if needed.
If you're flying with AirAsia from Subang to Sabah or Sarawak, take note — starting 7 April, these flights will depart from KLIA2 instead of Subang Airport
The airline is making this move to improve efficiency and accommodate growing demand for flights to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
AirAsia Malaysia's CEO, Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra, explained that while Subang Airport has been convenient for city travellers, KLIA2 offers better infrastructure to handle larger passenger volumes, especially during peak seasons, reported the New Straits Times.
Consolidating flights at KLIA2 will also streamline operations and support AirAsia's growth.
If you've already booked a Subang-Kota Kinabalu or Subang-Kuching flight on or after 7 April, your departure airport is now KLIA2
To make the transition easier, Fareh added that AirAsia is offering:
- Free flight changes
- Credit accounts
- Full refunds
AirAsia had only recently resumed operations at Subang Airport in August 2024, with 14 weekly flights to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching
However, the competitive and price-sensitive market made it less viable to continue operating from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, also known as Subang Airport.
Despite the relocation, AirAsia will still fly from Subang during the busy Hari Raya travel period to minimise disruptions.
While AirAsia is relocating these routes, other airlines will continue to fly from Subang, including:
- Firefly & Batik Air Malaysia (operating narrow-body jets)
- Scoot & TransNusa (foreign carriers still flying from Subang)
