You'll become part of a movement that champions various charitable organisations and causes, ranging from community empowerment, healthcare and education, to environmental conservation and supporting underprivileged communities.

Here's a look at the various local charities you'll be able to support by taking part in the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon 2023:

Futuremakers by Standard Chartered & Goal by Standard Chartered
Futuremakers is a global initiative that tackles inequality and promotes economic inclusion among youths, while Goal helps young girls reach their full potential through sports and a play-based methodology.

In partnership with Mereka.my, Futuremakers has empowered at least 500 youths to tap into employment opportunities in the digital economy through digital career pathways.

Reef Check Malaysia (RCM)
On a mission to protect Malaysia's coral reefs and marine ecosystems, RCM actively involves local communities in the management and conservation of their marine resources.

For example, RCM's Tioman Marine Conservation Group (TMCG) consists of local islanders who undergo training to carry out essential tasks in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries. These tasks include ghost net removal, predator monitoring, coral rehabilitation, and more.

Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK)
This NGO has been serving marginalised communities in Malaysia for over 15 years. Their non-religious and non-discriminatory soup kitchen, food bank, and empowerment programmes aim to reduce homelessness, hunger, poverty, and food wastage.

KSK provides vital assistance such as food, welfare aid, job placements, shelter, and basic medical services to the homeless and urban poor. They also redirect surplus food away from landfills and offer skill set training to single mothers and at-risk individuals.

Hospis Malaysia
Managed by a team of medical professionals and volunteers, this charitable organisation provides free professional palliative care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses. Their services cover pain and symptom management, education and training for healthcare providers, and advocacy for raising the understanding and visibility of palliative care in Malaysia.

Dignity For Children Foundation
The foundation is dedicated to providing holistic care and education for marginalised and urban poor children in Kuala Lumpur.

Their comprehensive approach focuses on education, social enterprises, farm academy programmes, and support programmes tailored to meet the physical, mental, and environmental needs of children. Dignity aims to nurture and empower these children, helping them develop into confident individuals who can make a positive impact in the world.

You can sign up to run and raise funds for your preferred charity

Alternatively, if you would like to donate to a particular charity, you can search for runners who are raising funds for that charity and donate generously!

Your donation to these worthy causes can create lasting change and improve the lives of individuals and communities in Malaysia. Whether it's protecting coral reefs, helping marginalised communities, providing palliative care, empowering underprivileged children, or supporting youth in their education and career paths, your contribution matters.

Together, we can make a significant impact and create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
