62 street dogs were recently rescued after being displaced from a redevelopment site in Jinjang

They are now living in a temporary shelter while volunteers work to secure a permanent home for them.
For years, the dogs were under the care of Janaki, a former nurse now in her 60s, who is a familiar face in the neighbourhood through her daily routine of feeding and looking after them.
Earlier this year, the land where the dogs lived was cleared for redevelopment

Janaki had to find a safe place for all 62 dogs within a short period of time to prevent them from ending up back on the streets. Animal welfare NGO Pawtarian and content creator Sidney Rayos Michael stepped in to help.
Together, they successfully relocated all 62 dogs to temporary boarding facilities in the Klang Valley.
However, keeping them safe comes with a monthly cost
According to Pawtarian, around RM6,000 is needed every month to cover boarding and food for the rescued dogs. The temporary shelter gives them a safe place to stay while volunteers work on a long-term solution.
To keep the dogs cared for during this period, the team behind #PawfundForJanaki is seeking public support, including contributions towards their ongoing shelter and food needs. The initiative is also calling on the public and fellow content creators to help spread awareness about the rescued dogs and their journey.
Janaki says the dogs have become part of her family

"These dogs aren't strays to me. They're friends who found me when no one else would stop to see them," Janaki said.
She added that the dogs have become part of her everyday life and giving them up was never an option. Janaki has been caring for the dogs around Jinjang for more than four years.
Pawtarian is also working on a permanent home for rescued animals

Beyond caring for the 62 rescued dogs, Pawtarian is building a 2.1-acre animal sanctuary in Klang. Once completed, it will be able to house up to 400 rescued cats, dogs, and other animals.
The sanctuary is being designed to provide a safer environment with proper hygiene, medical care and enrichment, giving rescued animals a chance at long-term welfare instead of simply surviving.
