While we may not openly show our patriotism, that doesn't mean we don't love our country

In fact, there is no right or fixed way to be patriotic. Especially since we come from a country that's culturally rich and diverse, many of us have distinct ways of portraying our heartfelt love for our country, from celebrating cultural traditions to rallying around our national sports teams. Sometimes, we may even show our love unknowingly.

Perodua more than understands this, which is why they've produced a Hari Kebangsaan ad that perfectly explains how Malaysians celebrate Malaysia in their own unique way

Watch the full video below:

Being patriotic can be as simple as caring for the hibiscus, our country's national flower

The hibiscus, known as bunga raya, was declared the national flower in 1960. While you may think that caring for it is merely a simple act, it's a profound gesture that reflects a deep connection to our country, as well as its values and history.

Meanwhile, others unknowingly show their patriotism by singing along to patriotic songs while driving <3

We've all grown up singing along to our country's patriotic songs in school, and let's admit it — they're really catchy, hehe. At the end of the day, these songs carry heartfelt, patriotic meanings, serving as a reminder of how much our country has been through.

There are also Malaysians who emphasise buying local even if they may be able to afford imported goods

From cars to artisanal goods, there are tonnes of locally-made products that are of high quality and value. Shopping locally helps to support not only our country's economy, but
also the wider community. <3

Most importantly, you can always count on Malaysians to step forward and show their support

Regardless of where Malaysians may be, be it in a different state or abroad, they're always more than willing to show their support. Those abroad would still make the effort to submit their votes in the general election via postal voting, while others would purposely travel thousands of miles just to support our national teams in international competitions. <3

All in all, Perodua's Hari Kebangsaan ad tells us that more often than not, we're already displaying our patriotism in so many ways without actually realising it

And, no matter how we choose to display it, one thing we can all agree on is that there is no other home like Malaysia. :D

Perodua wishes all Malaysians Selamat Hari Kebangsaan! <3
