Singaporean YouTubers Rachell Tan and Sean, who moved to Kuala Lumpur for a change of pace, have named Taman Saujana Hijau in Putrajaya one of the most beautiful parks they've visited in Malaysia

The couple, who live in Desa ParkCity and document their lives in Malaysia to over 50,000 YouTube subscribers, said the park was recommended repeatedly by their viewers.

After finally making the trip, they said it exceeded their expectations.

"If you told us this park was in the middle of Europe, we would completely believe you," they said.

Surrounded by towering pine trees, rolling green hills, wooden fences, and colourful flower gardens, the pair said the park felt "like an absolute dream" and the perfect destination for a weekend escape.

But what surprised them actually started before they even reached the park

The couple said their previous visit to Putrajaya had been solely to shop at IOI City Mall, so they never paid much attention to the city itself.

This time, however, the drive through Malaysia's administrative capital left a lasting impression.

They pointed out how different Putrajaya felt compared to Kuala Lumpur, highlighting its smooth roads, landscaped medians, colourful flowers, and decorative lamp posts.

"What we noticed the last time was, how come the roads here are so smooth and then got no potholes?" Rachell remarked during the drive.

Sean added that Putrajaya felt much more planned, describing it as "the garden city of Malaysia" because of its abundance of greenery.

They were particularly impressed that even ordinary roads were lined with flowering plants and neatly maintained landscaping.

"This is just the roadside, guys. This is not even the park yet," Sean said.

Beyond the greenery, the couple said Putrajaya seemed noticeably quieter than many parts of Kuala Lumpur

Rachell observed that they had hardly seen roadside stalls or hawker-style eateries during their drive.

"So far we haven't seen those street side stalls," she said, comparing it with neighbourhoods such as Menjalara, where roadside food options are common.

Sean also noted that, apart from IOI City Mall, they had not come across many shopping centres either.

Curious whether this was unique to the areas they had driven through or representative of Putrajaya as a whole, they invited local viewers to share their experiences in the comments.

They reckon Taman Saujana Hijau Putrajaya is one of the most beautiful parks they've visited in Malaysia

Upon arriving at the park, the couple found exactly what had been recommended to them.

The park's European-inspired landscaping features rows of pine trees, wide lawns, flower gardens, walking trails, and scenic viewpoints spread across gently sloping hills.

Sean jokingly compared parts of the park to scenes from the Twilight films, while Rachell said each section introduced a completely different landscape.

"I think this is really one of the most beautiful parks that we've been to in Malaysia so far," she said.

They were also impressed by how clean and well-maintained the park was, noting that visitors could enjoy paved walking paths, picnic spots, pavilions, vending machines, and dedicated photography areas.

Throughout their walk, they spotted school excursions, families, picnickers, and several couples having wedding photoshoots.

Later in the hike, they also came across fields of bright yellow sunflowers, while hundreds of white butterflies fluttering around the trees after the rain added what Sean described as a "magical" atmosphere.

There was just one trade-off they noticed

As much as they loved the scenery, the couple said the park's signature pine trees came with one drawback.

Unlike broader rainforest trees that spread out overhead, many of the pine trees provide very little shade over the walkways.

Rachell said visitors essentially have to choose between beautiful scenery and cooler walking conditions.

"So you want the pretty trees that don't provide much shade, or you want the not so pretty trees but provide a lot of shade?" she joked.

Sean's recommendation was simple: visit before 10am or after 6pm, when temperatures are much more comfortable.

Their relaxing stroll took an unexpected turn when Malaysia's famously unpredictable weather struck

After spending much of the morning complaining about the heat, dark clouds rolled in and heavy rain quickly followed.

As the drizzle intensified, the pair abandoned their leisurely pace and began running across the park in search of shelter.

"This peaceful video has turned into a disaster!" Sean laughed as they sprinted through the rain.

The couple eventually made it to a pavilion, where they waited out the downpour while joking about Rachell's peanut butter bagel, which had spent hours "marinating" inside her pocket.

Reflecting on the experience afterwards, Rachell said the weather changed so quickly that visitors should always come prepared.

"The moral of the story: bring an umbrella regardless how sunny the weather looks."

Fortunately, the rain passed almost as quickly as it arrived

The couple continued exploring the park under clear blue skies before meeting a stray cat they affectionately named "Moomoo", who briefly joined them on their walk through the sunflower gardens.

As wedding photoshoots resumed around the park and golden sunlight returned, the pair said the scenery looked even more picturesque after the rain.

Looking back on the visit, they said destinations like Taman Saujana Hijau show that Malaysians don't necessarily have to travel overseas to enjoy landscapes that feel completely different from what many people expect.

"Really don't need to go overseas already. Just drive to Putrajaya."

Viewers said the park deserves more attention

The video also prompted many viewers to share their own experiences at Taman Saujana Hijau, with several saying the couple had highlighted one of Putrajaya's most underrated attractions.

One viewer wrote, "Yes, this is where I took my wedding photos with my wife. Now it is even more stunning..", echoing the couple's observation that the park has become a popular location for wedding photoshoots.

Another suggested the city's immaculate appearance is intentional, commenting, "One of the reasons Putrajaya is well maintained is to showcase to foreign delegates when they come to Malaysia."

The couple also received praise from Malaysian viewers, with one commenting, "Not gonna lie this is my favourite Singaporean YouTuber haahahah."
