A Hot Lap In A McLaren Supercar, An Awesome Party & More At Sepang International Circuit

#todayiwill finally get the chance to feel intense G-forces from a speeding supercar.

Remember that mysterious package we got in the mail?

It contained an hour-glass, and a pair of invitations instructing us to meet at a specific location and a specific time. Yeah, a little weird, but we just went with the flow!

Scattered throughout the package was '#todayiwill', and this was also a mystery to us.

And so we met up at the location stated in the invitation!

We had arrived at the location (Menara Ken in TTDI) and the first thing we saw was this stretch limousine with the same mysterious hashtag, as well as a logo we hadn't seen before - 'glo'.

If we're being frank, we wandered around like lost puppies for a bit because we had no idea what we were doing there. What we saw was a tonne of influencers and models walking around having their own little photoshoots.

Admin: "Hello? What's going on, ah?"

After some more lost puppy-ing, we finally heard our names being called! At this point we felt a huge sense of relief, because we seriously thought we were at the wrong venue or something.

Turns out, we were right! Menara Ken wasn't actually the real venue. Instead, we were instructed to get into a mysterious black car. Normally, we wouldn't follow a stranger's instruction to do such a thing without at least knowing the final destination. But hey, we're living life on the edge, right? ;)

Mystery road trip, mystery location. How now?

*Take deep, slow breaths*

Having watched the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Malaysia before, slowly but surely, Admin started to recognise the route that we were taking - we were headed to Sepang International Circuit (SIC), y'all!

We were on the road for a good hour or so, but as we drew closer to the 'mystery' location (*clears throat* SIC), we made what seemed like an unscheduled pitstop at a nearby petrol station. Well, that was a good time to kind of gauge what was going on. The petrol station was literally facing the entrance road to the circuit.

When we poked the organisers about the destination and what we were going to do there, we were told it was a 'surprise'. Damn it.

After about 20 minutes, we were told to get back in the car, and off we went.

Admin's suspicions were proven right, we wound up at SIC!

If you know what we look like, try to spot us. ;)

As soon as we got out of the car, the organiser asked us to sign some forms. Or, in their exact words - "release of liability". Yikes.

Jokes aside, they finally told us what we were doing - we were each given a chance to sit shotgun (well, there are only two seats, anyway) in a McLaren 675LT Coupé and go for a hot-lap around Sepang International Circuit! YES, PLEASE. THANK YOU. TERIMA KASIH BANYAK-BANYAK.

The actual car admin was driven in!

Here are some fun facts so you can gauge how pumped up we were to get in:

  • The McLaren 675LT Coupé has 666 horsepower
  • It can reach a top speed of 330 km/h
  • The person who would drive us is a professional race car driver
  • The person who would drive us also owns the McLaren we were to be thrashed about in

So, when it was Admin's turn to go on a hot-lap, let's just say ALL expectations were exceeded.

At one point, the driver accelerated to a speed of 264 km/h on the final straight! It was absolutely insane - truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. What we weren't really prepared for was the amount of G-forces we would experience at every corner. Admin's face felt like it was going to fall off. Awesome-sauce.

Those who didn't feel like going for a ride in the powerful 675LT Coupé chose to do other awesome things

Like going hot-air-ballooning and enjoying the beautiful orange and red hues of the sunset.

Among other activities, people also went go-karting, and even played a driving simulator game in which they could drive the McLaren 675LT themselves. ;)

And of course, there was an insane party that lasted all night long

With free-flow drinks to go around, as well as delicious food, there was nothing to complain about at all. There were still supercars flying by the final straight, past the pit lanes (where the party was at), so we could hear the loud roars of V8s, V10s, and V12s flying by.

At the end of the day, we were absolutely knackered. But it was a day filled with epic adventures and a super exciting crowd.

Thanks a lot, Glo!
