Every Chinese New Year, pineapple tarts take centre stage as one of the most beloved festive treats

But this year, Yiak Mee, a talented Singaporean home baker, has taken these buttery delights to a whole new level with her adorable snake-themed pineapple tarts for the Year of the Snake!

For the past six years, Yiak Mee has been creating themed pineapple tarts, drawing inspiration from the Chinese zodiac animals

When it came to designing this year's tarts, she found herself captivated by the way snakes often coil protectively around eggs.

"The pineapple paste's golden colour reminded me of prosperous-looking golden eggs, so I incorporated them into the design," she shared with SAYS.

Each tart features six golden "eggs" since the number six is considered especially lucky in Chinese culture.

And yes, in case you're wondering — the golden balls are meant to represent the snake's eggs!

While her intricate creations look like they belong in a high-end bakery, Yiak Mee clarified that baking is simply a hobby for her

"I made the tarts as a hobby and only gift them to family and friends. They're not for sale," she explained.

This isn't her first time impressing with her creative bakes. Over the years, she's crafted tarts for other zodiac animals, including the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, and dragon.

Her creations have even been featured in popular Facebook groups like Singapore Home Cooks and Homecooked Delights, where they've earned her plenty of admiration from fellow home bakers.
