16-Year-Old Girl Arrested For Slashing Elderly E-Hailing Driver's Throat Over RM400 Fare

The 63-year-old driver was attacked at around 2.55am at Jalan Kovil Hilir, Jalan Ipoh in Kuala Lumpur, Sentul district police chief ACP Beh Eng Lai said in a press statement late last night, 16 April.
Prior to which, police arrested the teenager at 4.55pm yesterday from a business premises in front of the Maybank branch in Jinjang. The authorities also seized a handphone owned by the suspect.
The victim, a MyCar driver, had picked up the girl at Sagil, Tangkak, Johor. Before starting the journey, she agreed to pay RM400 fare.
Once the driver reached the destination at Jalan Kovil Hilir, he informed the suspect of the price that they agreed upon. However, she refused to pay because she did not have any money, Beh said.
The driver then decided to take the girl to a police station for further action.
"Out of fear, the suspect slashed the victim's throat with a penknife and ran away," the Sentul district police chief said in the statement, adding that she left behind the penknife in the victim's car.
The driver, despite his condition, then drove to the Sentul police station for assistance, from where he was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital via ambulance for further treatment.
Initial investigations showed that she has no previous criminal records
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons. She faces up to 10 years in jail, a fine, whipping, or any two of the punishments.
