16-Year-Old M'sian Reverses His Mum's MPV & Crashes Into A Dozen Diners At Food Court
Several diners were injured, after failing to avoid the vehicle.

A frightening incident unfolded at Medan Selera Tanjung Kling, Melaka over the weekend, leaving diners injured and in shock as a teenager crashed his mother's Toyota Avanza into the crowded food court
The incident occurred around 2.43pm on Saturday, 26 August, when a 16-year-old boy inadvertently pressed the accelerator while attempting to start the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), reported Bernama.
This caused the Toyota Avanza to reverse abruptly into the food court, colliding with a parked Proton Suprima S in the process, according to Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit.
About 11 diners, some of them children, were enjoying their meals when the vehicle hit them. Despite suffering injuries, no one has filed a police report so far, reported New Straits Times.
A closed-circuit television (CCTV) video clip showed the Toyota Avanza moving in reverse as it ploughed into the food court, where several families were seated.
The teenager was not hurt in the incident
A preliminary investigation found that the accident was believed to have occurred after the 16-year-old boy was instructed by his mother to warm up the engine of the vehicle, revealed Christopher.
"The teenager, however, pressed the gas pedal and put the car in reverse. The MPV reversed suddenly and crashed into the customers who were having their meals," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
