Two men recently tried to board a plane at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) despite having tested positive for COVID-19

According to New Straits Times, the incident took place on Sunday, 17 January around 9pm.

The duo attempted to board a flight bound for Dhaka, Bangladesh.

During the flight check-in process, they handed a slip to the staff manning the counter.

It turned out to be their test results which stated that they were COVID-19 positive.

Sinar Harian reported that current standard operating procedure (SOP) requires passengers of international flights to present COVID-19 screening test results.

The two men had handed over test slips obtained from a screening done at a private clinic. They had tested positive prior to their arrival at the airport.

KLIA district police chief ACP Imran Abd Rahman confirmed the incident and said that police had handed the men over to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

They are currently receiving treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital

Imran Abd Rahman explained that they are foreigners with valid identification documents. However, they should not be allowed to board a flight in fear of infecting other passengers.
