A 24-year-old aspiring teacher from Kuala Lumpur has been crowned Miss World Malaysia 2024
According to the New Straits Times, Taanusiya Chetty captivated judges and the audience with her stunning beauty, poise, and eloquence at the pageant finale on Tuesday night, 3 December.
She will represent Malaysia at the Miss World pageant next year, competing against contestants from around the globe
On Tuesday night, the beauty queen also took home RM50,000 in cash and prizes.
The pageant finale took place at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu.
Kelly Eleanor Tseu, a Chinese-Filipino from Kota Kinabalu, and Hantze Liow, a Muay Thai and yoga enthusiast from Kuala Lumpur, were named first and second runners-up, respectively.
After the event, Taanusiya took to social media to thank her family and supporters for believing in her
"This moment is bigger than me — it's about the lives touched, the stories shared, and the hope for a brighter tomorrow," she wrote.
Besides pursuing a Bachelor of Education in Teaching English as a Second Language, the 24-year-old is also an influencer, model, and content creator.
"From facing profound loss to finding strength in giving back, this journey has been nothing short of life-changing. Every step — from founding @be.the.change_my to empowering underserved communities and championing children with disabilities — has shaped who I am today," she said.
She said she hopes to use her platform as Miss World Malaysia to amplify her purpose, and inspire others to recognise the power of kindness and education.
