A 47-year-old man in Negeri Sembilan has been arrested for assaulting his 17-year-old daughter, leaving her with head wounds that required 12 stitches

According to the New Straits Times, the incident took place on 24 January, during which the victim was subjected to kicks and blows with various objects by her father, who was suspected to have been intoxicated.

Rembau district police chief Deputy Supt Hazri Mohamad said a team of policemen rushed to the location upon receiving information about the assault and arrested the suspect, who was found in a drunken state in front of his house.

Hazri also said the victim was promptly taken to Tampin Hospital to receive treatment.

"Further investigations found that the victim was kicked in the stomach, suffered bruises on the right shoulder, and had a cut on the head that required stitches," he said.

"It is understood that the suspect used a chair, a clothing basket and an iron rod to beat the victim," he added.

Further investigations and medical examinations revealed that the suspect had also sexually assaulted his daughter

The victim was subjected to sexual abuse in November, last year, reported the New Straits Times. The abuse was revealed after the victim confided in her father's girlfriend, who resides in the same house.

The police later verified the claim based on the information gathered from interviews and a doctor's examination, which confirmed that the victim had been sexually assaulted.

"A medical officer from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Division of the Negeri Sembilan Health Department examined the victim and found traces of an old tear on her hymen," he said.

Hazri said the sexual assault occurred at the victim's residence around 2pm when only the victim and the suspect were present at home. He added that the suspect threatened his daughter not to reveal the abuse to anyone.

It is reported that the suspect, who has a criminal record with seven offences, is currently being investigated under Section 376(B) of the Penal Code for incest.
