53-Year-Old Pastor Charged With Murdering Mother & Stuffing Her Body In A Freezer

A 53-year-old man has been charged at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court with the murder of his elderly mother and storing her body in a chest freezer

According to the New Straits Times, Deanesh Narayanan Nair, a freelance pastor, was accused of murdering his mother, Catherine Daniel, 77, at a house in Taman OUG between 21 and 26 March 2021.

The charge falls under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or up to 40 years' imprisonment, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

The accused, Deanesh Narayanan Nair, at court today, 26 November.

No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim fixed 7 February 2025 for the next mention and for the submission of the post-mortem, medical, and DNA reports.

The case surfaced after the accused voluntarily presented himself to the police on 12 November and confessed to murdering his mother.
