The toddler was infected through a family member.
A two-year-old boy, Muhammad Fateh Aqil Mohd Nazmee, is believed to be Malaysia's youngest COVID-19 patient
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, 24 March, Persatuan Sokongan Anak-Anak Kanser (PESONA) said Fateh, the baby boy who is fighting against leukaemia, has been tested positive for COVID-19.
According to PESONA, Fateh was scheduled to undergo a chemotherapy session at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kelantan, but the blood test showed that he was infected with the coronavirus.
A Ministery of Health source has confirmed the case
According to Malaysiakini, a source who wished to remain anonymous said Fateh is currently receiving treatment at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II), Kota Bharu.
"He was infected through a family member," said the source.
At the time of writing, PESONA's Facebook post about Fateh's plight has gone viral with over 3,500 reactions and 950 shares
"Please pray for Fateh to recover so that he can continue his fight (against leukaemia)," the post read.
Many netizens have since shared their prayers in the comments section.
"May God bestow a miracle on you, my dear. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Fateh. Amin," commented a Malaysian.
"Oh my, poor baby. The virus is so merciless, it attacks everyone regardless of age. Wishing Fateh a quick recovery! Fateh is a strong boy, isn't he," wrote another person, with a visual attachment of a teddy bear giving flying kisses.
"May God heal this little boy's cancer and COVID-19. You are the one who has the power to cure his illness," lamented one Facebook user.
