According to New Straits Times, investigations found that the injured Muhammad Fais was the one riding the motorcycle that suddenly entered the driver's lane.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong said that in an effort to avoid crashing into Fais, the man skidded into the opposite lane and collided with a car and two other motorcycles.

Blood and urine tests came back negative, confirming that the driver was not driving under the influence of alcohol or any banned substances.

Penang Kini reported that he also does not have any other criminal records except for a previous traffic offence.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
