A Woman Returning From Mecca After Performing Umrah Dies At KLIA

The female pilgrim is said to have collapsed and fainted as soon as she came out of the plane door.

A 53-year-old woman died at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). She had just returned from Mecca after performing umrah.

The incident happened at 1.10pm on Friday, 4 June at long Gate 12 for flight MH8021, reported Bernama.

It is believed that the female pilgrim died due to complications caused by high blood pressure.

KLIA district police chief ACP Imran Abd Rahman said the physical examination conducted on the victim found no suspicious marks

"The victim's body was sent to Serdang Hospital accompanied by the KLIA's Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel at about 2.30pm," he told Bernama, adding that the victim had high blood pressure.

The woman is understood to have collapsed and fainted as soon as she came out of the plane door, according to a post on Facebook

Zakariya Abd Rasip, a guide of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage, said that the victim was assisted by the aircraft crew and medical team but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The remains were safely managed with the good cooperation of the Malaysia Airlines crew, KLIA staff, and police," he said, as per a report in Berita Harian.

The woman hailed from Lok Heng, Kota Tinggi in Johor.

The flight crew and medical team members attempted to revive the woman.
