Actress Left In Shock After 15-Year-Old Son Spent Over RM10,000 Of Savings On Video Games
She said that she was left speechless when she found out that the RM23,000 she had saved for her 15-year-old son's future education was completely gone and she was left with only RM3.
Local actress Zarina Zainuddin was left in shock after her youngest son spent over RM10,000 of her savings to purchase online video games
In an interview with Harian Metro, she said that she was left speechless when she found out that the RM23,000 she had saved for her 15-year-old son's education was completely gone and she was left with only RM3.
"My whole body was shaking when I found out the money was gone. Adam admitted that he bought online video games that cost RM3,000 to RM5,000 each."
Zarina had given him a bank card so he'd be able to easily purchase Internet data or order food online.
"I never thought at all that he'd spend the money I saved in his personal account to buy video games," she added.
Previously, Zarina had uploaded a video on Instagram showing her son admitting to his mistake and saying that he regretted his actions.
However, she has taken down the video after netizens accused her of humiliating her son.
She said, "I did not upload the video for fun or to humiliate my son. I just wanted to show other parents out there to supervise their children at home, especially in situations like this where anything can happen."
"I've deleted the video and I told Adam that I want him to appreciate what I've done for him all this time. As a mother, I am very affected by this but outsiders don't understand how I feel. They think I uploaded the video to embarrass him."
"What is there to be embarrassed about? He didn't steal or rape someone. He just bought a video game using his own money which is a huge amount. He tainted my trust. What is there to be ashamed of? Those who say that, don't they think?" the actress asked.
She stressed that the video was only meant to educate other parents to be more aware about their children's actions
"I'm not going to hide my son's flaws. I shared so other people will take the same steps in supervising their children's movements. This has happened to me, I don't want others to go through the same thing," she added.
Zarina said that she's very stern with her children and if they made a mistake, they would have to admit it and face the consequences.
