Ampang Couple Arrested For Allegedly Abusing 4-Year-Old Because She Pees Everywhere
The mother and her boyfriend, both of whom have previous criminal records, have been remanded for a week.
Ampang Jaya district police have arrested a woman and her boyfriend for allegedly abusing her four-year-old daughter in Hulu Klang
The couple, aged 27 and 39, were arrested on Tuesday, 25 May, by a Hulu Kelang police team led by Inspector Yew Chee Teong, according to Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohamad Farouk Eshak.
Mohamad Farouk said the abuse was first noticed by the victim's step-aunt in early March this year. At the time, the 20-year-old relative was visiting the family.
"The relative claimed that the girl had been abused since March but there were no visible signs of injury," Sinar Harian quoted him as saying in a statement yesterday, 29 May.
"However, she visited again recently and found bruises and swelling on the victim's face."
According to Mohamad Farouk, the alleged abuse started because the four-year-old had been peeing and defecating all over the house
"The victim is said to be hyperactive and is difficult to control," he was quoted as saying.
Mohamad Farouk said that a preliminary investigation found that the mother's boyfriend has a previous criminal record related to fraud, while the mother has drug-related records.
The couple has been remanded for seven days
The remand order is until Monday, 31 May.
The case is being investigated under Section 31 (1) of the Children Act 2001.
"The investigation paper is in final stages and will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor's office this Monday for further action," he added.
