An intern attached to Tesco Extra Mutiara Damansara in Petaling Jaya is COVID-19 positive, according to a statement by the retailer
In the statement, that was posted at about 7.30pm tonight, 14 October, Tesco Malaysia said that the company informed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) about the intern's COVID-19 results.
Tesco Malaysia, however, did not provide any other details about the intern's case. The company also did not say anything about the last date the intern was working at its store.
"Tesco is working with the MOH to ensure the health and safety of its colleagues who may have been in close contact [with the infected intern]," the statement said.
Tesco Extra Mutiara Damansara will open at 10am tomorrow
According to Tesco Malaysia's statement, the company is taking "proactive measures to disinfect and deep clean the store overnight" as a precaution and the store will reopen at 10am on Thursday, 15 October.
In the meantime, the company ensured that it has extensive measures across all its stores to help keep everyone safe
"The safety of our colleagues and customers remain our priority and we have extensive measures across all our stores to help keep everyone safe, including temperature checking at entrances, customer registry through the MySejahtera app, physical distancing guidance on the floor, and regular sanitisation of heavy traffic areas such as the cashiers, trolleys, and toilets," the statement said.
Keep practising physical distancing and wash your hands often. Watch the Defence Minister's press conference below:
