An employee working under a company that operates three cosmetic outlets in Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall has tested negative for COVID-19 despite initially testing positive for the virus

In a statement on Facebook, Origani Malaysia — a subsidiary of London Sales Cosmetics Sdn Bhd (LSC) — said the senior employee underwent two more rounds of testing and the results show that she is COVID-19 free.

"This conclusively demonstrates that the original diagnosis was erroneous and a false positive report," Origani said.

"Our staff is safe, healthy, and currently at her home with her family members, all of which also tested negative for COVID-19."

Despite the false alarm caused by the erroneous test result, the company has ordered its staff to undergo screening and sanitise the affected outlets

Origani said 95% of LSC employees have taken COVID-19 tests and results show they are clear, while the remaining 5% are waiting for their results in 48 hours.

"These past few days have certainly not been easy, but as we value transparency and honesty, we stand by our decision to cease operations in all outlets until proper measures were taken," the statement continued, which is also shared on The Gardens Mall's Facebook page.

"We look forward to reopening all outlets and serving our beloved patrons and members of the community as soon as possible, contingent upon the advice of the Ministry of Health (MOH)."
