PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said Bersatu is "automatically" out of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition the moment its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced plans for a new coalition
According to the New Straits Times, Hadi said Bersatu's removal was in line with the coalition's constitution.
"Bersatu has made a statement that they will form another team, so its membership within PN is automatically forfeited," he said after Friday prayers today, 7 August.
His remarks come after PAS ended its political cooperation with Bersatu last month. Although both parties remain component members of PN, tensions between the two former allies have continued to escalate.

Bersatu contested the state election independently but failed to win any of the 24 seats it contested.
The party also forfeited its election deposit in 23 constituencies after failing to secure the minimum 12.5% of votes required to retain it, reported Malaysiakini.
Muhyiddin said the proposed new coalition would comprise:
• Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat (IPR)
• Parti Putra
• United for the Rights of Malaysians Party (URIMAI)
However, Bersatu had previously insisted that it remained a member of PN, arguing that the coalition's constitution requires the consensus of all component parties before any member can be expelled, reported Malay Mail.
