Businessman Who Attacked Man For Remarking About His GF's Body Is Allegedly A 'Datuk Seri'

One of the suspects in the recent murder case in Tengkera, Melaka is said to be a businessman with a 'Datuk Seri' title

According to an exclusive report by China Press, the businessman in his 30s is one of the nine detained in connection with the murder of a man, who was allegedly stabbed to death after making a lewd comment about a woman's breast size on Tuesday, 9 May.

The woman is the girlfriend of the businessman in question, and he is said to be "someone well-known in the streets".

Citing sources, the Chinese daily reported that the suspect is a figure with a wide network of connections and often co-organises charitable events.

In a statement yesterday, 10 May, Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the suspect manages an online gambling scheme in Batu Pahat, Johor.

He also operates foreign money exchange outlets in Johor and Melaka, reported The Star.

The police also revealed that the suspect is a married man with three children.

After the murder case made headlines nationwide, videos of the incident surfaced on the Internet

One of the videos shows a man in a white T-shirt, believed to be the businessman, constantly asking the victim, "You mana punya budak? (Where are you from?)"

In an 11-second video, the deceased is believed to have been attacked, causing him to fall to the ground, while a separate video shows him lying in a pool of blood with the police at the scene.

It is understood that, prior to the fracas, the businessman and his girlfriend went to a stall on Jalan Kenanga for supper

The couple was accompanied by their bodyguard, who heard the murder victim commenting about the woman's body in Tamil when they entered the premises.

The lewd comment led to the victim and his friends engaging in a fierce fight with the businessman and his bodyguard.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The police arrested nine suspects, aged between 25 and 38, to help in the investigation.
