The man, wearing a black hoodie, was seen threatening the woman with the parang.
This CCTV footage shows the shocking moment a parang-wielding man robbed a young woman of her iPhone 8 at a petrol station in a daring robbery in Jalan Pintasan Kuantan
The robbery happened at 1.20am on Thursday morning, 8 November, when the young woman had stopped to refuel her car
Kuantan District police chief ACP Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said the 21-year-old woman was on her way back home to Balok after meeting some friends in Indera Mahkota.
"The victim claimed a white Perodua Viva suddenly stopped near her car as she was getting into hers after fuelling up," ACP Noor was quoted as saying by Bernama.
While his accomplice remained in the car, the suspect, wearing a black hoodie, gloves, and covering his face using a white handkerchief, jumped out and flashed the parang at the woman before snatching her iPhone worth RM2,500, from the front passenger seat.
Police are now looking for the two men
The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery which carries a maximum prison term of 20 years and whipping.
ACP Noor said the suspects were monitoring customers near the petrol station entrance before they rushed in and robbed the victim after threatening her.
