Firefighters discovered the victims after receiving a call from the family's foreign domestic helper at about 8.25pm.

She was worried that there was a gas leak after noticing an odd odour when she returned to the rented flat, South China Morning Post reported.

The bodies of the three family members were found together on a bed

Prescription drugs and burnt charcoal were found in the room where their bodies were discovered.

According to a suicide note left by the couple, they were in financial trouble after losing money from investments
