Penang Woman Killed In Australia In Alleged Domestic Violence Case, Leaves Behind 3 Children

A woman from Penang was was allegedly murdered in a domestic violence assault in Perth, Australia, last month

According to 7NEWS Australia, Tan Kah Ming, 28, was found unresponsive in a residence on Taree St in St James at about 8.30pm on 26 August.

She was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives believe Younis Qambari, 38, caused the woman's "extensive injuries which resulted in her death" during an assault several days earlier.

Police allege the murder "occurred in the context of a family and domestic relationship". Western Australia Premiere Roger Cook said Tan's three children were present during the incident.

"It sounds like a horrific situation and one that took place in the presence of children.

"Our thoughts go out to everyone impacted," WAtoday quoted Cook as saying.

Tan's twin sister, who lives nearby, told 7NEWS that she was distraught and struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

The situation has been made even more difficult by the fact that she lives nearby.

Three months earlier, Tan's family had noticed injuries on her body and contacted Perth police out of concern for her safety.

In the fundraising page, Tan was described as a "caring, hardworking, and valued member of our community who touched many lives through her kindness, dedication, and warmth".

As of today, 10 September, the campaign had raised AUD58,261 (about RM171,000). The funds will be used to cover the children's immediate living expenses, childcare, education costs, and daily necessities, while providing some financial stability during a time of great uncertainty.

China Press reported that Tan was from Penang and had completed her secondary education at a school in Butterworth.

Qambari is currently in custody after being charged with murder. He is due to appear in court on 16 September for his next hearing.
