13-Year-Old Allegedly Beaten By Students Over Misunderstanding

Kota Kinabalu police are investigating an alleged assault on a 13-year-old girl by five female students on 22 May

According to Malay Mail, the incident occurred following a supposed misunderstanding.

The victim suffered bruises and minor injuries across her body in the attack, which was captured on video and went viral on social media.

Police said they received a report from the victim at 7.51am on 23 May, a day after the alleged assault.

A preliminary investigation revealed the assailants came from different schools and knew each other through a WhatsApp chat group

It is believed the victim was lured by two suspects before she was surrounded and attacked.

The video of the incident shows other students attempting to break up the fight and pulling the assailants away from the victim.

Following the assault, the victim claimed the perpetrators allegedly threatened her and told her not to inform family members or the police.

Multiple students and members of the public witnessed the assault, with footage of the incident rapidly spreading online

Police are investigating the case under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
