Elderly Duo In Kedah Arrested After They Accidentally Installed Jalur Gemilang Upside Down

Yesterday, 31 August, police arrested an elderly couple in Langkawi for installing their flags upside down

The couple had placed their Jalur Gemilang and Kedah flags upside down at their sundry shop. 

According to Bernama, the incident took place in Jalan Pandak Mayah, Langkawi, Kedah.

Police received a call from a complainant who witnessed the flags hung upside down at the couple's premises

According to Langkawi district police chief Supt Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, the complainant lodged the police report at about 11.42am yesterday.

"It is a convenience store in a two-storey building which has been operating for the past 15 years. The two arrested individuals, a 60-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, are the owners of the premises and have admitted to the offence," Ibrahim said as reported by Bernama. 

Ibrahim added that the suspects also made a police report themselves for unintentionally installing the flags upside down

"The suspects also expressed regret over the incident and have repositioned the two flags," the police chief said.
