Government Will Give 4 Free Face Masks To Every Household
The face masks will be delivered to your doorstep.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri announced that the government will soon be giving out 24 million face masks to Malaysians nationwide
Ismail said during a press conference today, 8 April, that each household will be receiving four face masks from the government for free.
According to him, some 24.62 million face masks are currently in the process of being distributed by the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) to all the states in Malaysia.
The disaster management committee of each district will receive the boxes of face masks, before being distributed to each house by local frontliners.
As for the people in East Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) will be transporting the face masks to the states on Friday, 10 April
Ismail said the people in Labuan, Sabah, and Sarawak can expect to receive the face masks in the coming days.
The Defence Minister also reminded the public that only individuals showing symptoms of COVID-19 are required to wear face masks, as advised by the Ministry of Health.
On 30 March, Ismail announced that the ceiling price of face masks is fixed at RM1.50
He said the price increase from the previous 80 sen a piece for a three-ply mask is necessary because most of the masks are not produced locally, reported New Straits Times.
"We import most of them and so we are tied to the prices fixed by those countries," explained the Defence Minister.
"Due to that, the meeting agreed for the ceiling price for masks to be fixed at RM1.50, which is 50 sen cheaper than what we announced earlier."
