METMalaysia: Monsoon Transitional Phase May Cause Floods Starting This Week Until Mid-May
The monsoon transitional phase will begin this Thursday, 23 March.

The country may face floods caused by the monsoon transitional phase that will last about 50 days, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia)
The government agency responsible for providing climate warnings said the transitional phase will begin this Thursday, 23 March, and last until mid-May.
In a statement, METMalaysia director-general Muhammad Helmi Abdullah said the extreme weather in the coming weeks may also cause damage to unstable structures.
"During the monsoon transitional phase, the country will receive weak wind from various directions that is conducive to the occurrence of thunderstorms. It usually brings heavy rains and strong winds for a short period of time," he said.
"This would occur mainly in the evening and early at night in most areas in west coast states and some rural areas in the Peninsular, west of Sabah, as well as west and central Sarawak," he added.
Muhammad Helmi said the beginning of the monsoon transitional phase marks the end of the northeast monsoon, which began on 7 November last year
He advised members of the public to be extra vigilant during this period and keep an eye on weather forecasts and warnings issued by the department through its official website, the myCuaca mobile application, and social media accounts.
