A video featuring a woman's living room ceiling splitting apart and crashing down due to the weight of rainwater it collected went viral on TikTok on Tuesday, 28 February

In a TikTok video posted by user @qilskye, the ceiling of her residence is seen cracking amidst the rain. She is heard explaining the situation to the camera, while telling her parents to get out of the way.

"The ceiling of our house is broken because it's heavy!" exclaims the woman.

As the ceiling continued to crack, another lady in the video can be seen walking back and forth, retrieving items from the area, one of them being a stand fan. She also manages to turn off all the electrical switches in the room.

Just before she goes to get something else, the entire ceiling comes crashing down all at once, as the family is heard yelling for their lives.

Fortunately, the family evacuated the area in time and no one seemed to have gotten injured.

Although the user has not revealed her identity or location, locals were relieved to see a follow up video of the ceiling with the caption: "There's a lesson behind everything"

In the second video that was uploaded on the same day, the woman shared five photos of the wreckage that was once her ceiling.

Among the items that were destroyed included the stand fan that one of the ladies tried to salvage before the ceiling fell.

The video has since garnered over eight million views and has received countless comments from locals all over

Many users found the family lucky, especially the lady who was walking back and forth from the room just before the ceiling fell.

"Good thing that lady ran fast," commented a user, to which the woman replied, "God was still protecting (us)."

However, many criticised the lady's actions of retrieving her valuables, stating that nothing is more valuable that their lives.

"She repeatedly went back and forth to save her things. Your lives are more important," advised a user.

A few users also observed the state of the ceiling and said that it was made haphazardly.

"The fixture of the plaster ceiling was done haphazardly, as if they wanted it done quickly. It's not strong," opined a user.
