A dashcam video recorded from a vehicle travelling along a narrow two-lane village road in Sungai Petani captures exactly how the catastrophic head-on collision unfolded on Sunday, 7 June, killing six family members inside a black Proton X50 SUV

The footage, taken from a back dashboard camera, shows a black Proton X50 SUV travelling behind the dashcam vehicle along Jalan Kampung Baru Pinang Tunggal.

Conditions are clear. The newly purchased X50 is moving normally in its lane.

At around the 16-second mark, the X50 appears to veer off its lane and into oncoming traffic.

At the 19-second mark, a 10-tonne lorry carrying soil comes into frame from the opposite direction, travelling steadily within its lane.

A couple of seconds later, at the 21-second mark, the X50 crashes into the lorry head-on, with the front section of the SUV taking the full force of the impact.

Kedah police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah confirmed that preliminary investigations found the SUV crossed into the opposite lane for reasons that have yet to be determined

The lorry was travelling at approximately 60km/h at the time.

The lorry driver held a valid licence and tested negative for drugs.

Six family members inside the SUV were killed, including a two-month-old infant. A three-year-old girl was the sole survivor, sustaining critical injuries.

The lorry driver was not hurt in the crash.

The X50 had reportedly been picked up from the showroom earlier that morning.
