A foreign woman, believed to be an Indonesian national, has been found dead by the roadside in Kulai, Johor.
A newborn baby boy was discovered cradled in her arms.
The body, clad in a saree, was found at approximately 8am today, 7 January, by a passerby, who immediately alerted emergency services.
According to initial reports, the passerby noticed the woman's body and the child lying inside a bush near the roadside in Saujana Putra Garden.
Emergency responders arrived and confirmed that the woman had passed away.
Authorities believe that the woman may have died due to complications during childbirth. No visible injuries or blood were found on her body.
The baby boy, who was wearing a diaper, is believed to have been cleaned and dressed before the woman's body was abandoned at the location, according to Sin Chew Daily.
At around 10.20am, the police cordoned off the area to collect evidence.
Forensic teams were deployed to investigate the circumstances behind her death.
The condition of the baby has not been disclosed at the time of writing.
