19-Year-Old Charged With Murder Of Boyfriend Who Allegedly Tried To Force Her Into Sex
The teenager was unrepresented when the charge was read out to her at the Johor Bahru Magistrate's Court.
A 19-year-old girl allegedly murdered her 29-year-old boyfriend at a hotel in Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru earlier this month
The girl, identified as Sim Hui Ying, was charged with murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code at the Johor Bahru Magistrate's Court yesterday, 29 September.
Sim nodded to indicate that she understood the charge that was read in Mandarin in front of magistrate R Salini, who set 6 December for the next mention pending post-mortem and chemistry reports.
No plea was recorded from Sim, who according to the charge sheets, killed 29-year-old Yap Kelly inside their hotel room at about 8pm last Tuesday, 20 September, reported Harian Metro.
The older man had allegedly tried to coerce the young girl into having sexual intercourse with him, which prompted her to defend herself
According to Utusan Malaysia, the boyfriend initiated the sexual act without her consent.
Sim was arrested after she herself lodged a police report.
Prior to lodging the report, she had informed her family about the incident.
Before she was brought to the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Sim had been under remand since 21 September, according to Johor Baru south district police chief ACP Raub Selamat.
If convicted, she will face the death sentence under Section 302
The young girl did not have any lawyer representing her when the charge was read out to her, while deputy public prosecutor Nur Aina Syakira Muhammad Syafiq Sim was prosecuting the case.
