Johor Offers Full Scholarships To Top SPM Scorers To Study At World’s Best 20 Universities

The Johor government is offering full scholarships to the state's top students to pursue degrees at leading universities around the world
Johor Unity, Heritage, and Culture Committee chairman Raven Kumar Krishnasamy said the 2026 Biasiswa Orang Muda Johor (BOMJ) programme, managed by Yayasan Pelajaran Johor, aims to nurture a new generation of globally competitive talent.
He said the programme targets students with outstanding 2025 SPM examination results who wish to further their studies at the world's best 20 universities.
"This scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including a local A-Level preparatory programme before students continue their studies abroad," he said.

Raven added that priority will be given to applicants pursuing fields aligned with Johor's strategic development, ensuring graduates contribute to the state's future growth
Priority fields of study include:
– Engineering and Technical
– Science and Technology
– Social Sciences
Eligibility criteria include:
– Born in Johor or have resided in the state for at least five years
– Minimum of 9A in SPM 2025
– Not older than 19 on the application closing date
– No minimum household income requirement
Applications are open from 6 to 19 April.
Raven also urged eligible students to seize the opportunity, describing the scholarship as a gateway for Johor youths to compete globally in line with the state's aspirations
According to the programme's FAQs, students are only allowed to choose to study at the world's best 20 universities listed in the Times Higher Education (THE), Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), or the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
Among the universities that consistently rank among the world's elite across these lists are:

– Stanford University
– University of Oxford
– Harvard University
– University of Cambridge
– ETH Zurich
– National University of Singapore
– University College London
– California Institute of Technology
– University of Hong Kong
– Nanyang Technological University Singapore
– University of Chicago
– Peking University
– University of Pennsylvania
– Cornell University
– Tsinghua University
– University of California Berkeley
– University of Melbourne
– University of New South Wales, and more.
Applications can be submitted through Yayasan Pelajaran Johor.
