Kedah Man Tries To Evade Arrest By Saying That His Ganja Plants Are Just Bamboo Trees
After being questioned by the police, the suspect admitted that the plants were indeed ganja and they were grown for personal use.
A man in Kedah was recently arrested for growing cannabis plants right outside of his home
Nicknamed 'Mat Tarzan', the man in his 30's was arrested at Jalan Datuk Kumbar yesterday, 10 June.
Berita Harian reported that a team of officers from the Kedah Narcotics Crime Investigation Department raided the suspect's home around 10.30am.
To evade arrest, the man told authorities that the ganja trees were bamboo plants instead
Kota Setar ACP Superintendent Mohd Redzuan Salleh told Harian Metro that after being questioned by the police, the suspect admitted that the plants were indeed ganja and they were grown for personal use.
Officers found four cannabis plants outside of the man's house and they were as tall as one storey.
All of the plants were seized by the authorities and they were taken to the Kota Setar district police headquarters. Mohd Redzuan added that they are currently investigating how 'Mat Tarzan' obtained cannabis seeds.
The case has been classified under Section 6B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for the illegal cultivation of cannabis and Section 15 for personal drug use
In another report, Berita Harian stated that the man was remanded for seven days after testing positive for marijuana.
Initial investigations also revealed that the suspect has a past criminal record related to drug offences.
