The story of a computer store owner coming to a man's aid by paying for his petrol when he only had RM3 in his pocket went viral on Facebook earlier this week, touching many Malaysians' hearts

In a Facebook post published on Wednesday, 3 July, Abu Hurairah Roslan shared that he was feeling down as he drove along the North-South Expressway that night.

He said the money he owed to his supplier had surpassed the usual levels, prompting him to discuss the issue with them.

"After meeting with the supplier and discussing our situation, I drove with a heavy heart, thinking about everything.

"I realised my car was almost out of petrol. After passing the Jalan Duta toll, I drove straight to a gas station to refuel," he recounted.

At the payment counter, Abu Hurairah saw a Chinese man approach and ask a petrol station employee, "I only have RM3 in cash. Can you add RM10 from my debit card?"

Abu Hurairah said the man appeared distressed and to be in a hurry, wiping sweat off his face.

Abu Hurairah said no matter how many times the man tried, his card did not work

"Why doesn't it work? There's RM18 in my account. Why can't I use it?" Abu Hurairah heard the man asking the cashier.

The man appeared anxious and Abu Hurairah felt sorry for him.

"In the end, he paid RM3. I couldn't stand it, so I stopped what I was doing and went to look for him," Abu Hurairah wrote on Facebook.

"I approached him and said, 'Hi. Sorry, are you short on money? It's okay. Let me help you.'

"I'll help you because RM3 isn't enough for petrol," he told the man.

The man replied, "Oh, sorry. My salary hasn't been paid yet. I need to get back to Tanjung Malim, Perak. It's an emergency."

The man apologised several times while refusing help.

Despite that, Abu Hurairah used his debit card to pay for the man's petrol

The man was grateful for Abu Hurairah's generosity and was surprised that Abu Hurairah paid for a full tank of petrol.

"I can't believe this. You just came and helped me just like that. Give me your number. I'll pay you back when I get my salary. I'm sorry," the man said.

Abu Hurairah said the man shook his head in disbelief, saying that he had been asking friends for help all day but no one had come to his aid.

He then encouraged the man to have faith in God, sharing the compassion he learned from his religion.

After the man had calmed down, the duo exchanged phone numbers.

At the time of writing, Abu Hurairah's post has gone viral with over 2,600 likes

Many netizens have expressed being touched by the story.
