KL Man Caught On Camera Brutally Slamming A Cat For Sitting On His Car

The viral video was caught on CCTV at a parking lot in Jalan Rejang, Setapak.

A video of a man brutally slamming a cat on the ground after it was found sitting on his parked car recently made its rounds on social media

Wangsa Maju district police chief SUPT Rajab Ahad Ismail confirmed the incident with Harian Metro and said that the viral video was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) at a parking lot in Jalan Rejang, Setapak.

He said, "The viral video shows a man who slammed a cat who had climbed his car's windshield at the time. His actions clearly brought forth backlash from netizens as he did it consciously and it could hurt the cat as well as cause internal bleeding due to the strong impact to the ground."

The suspect has since come forward and given his statement at the Setapak police station

According to Malay Mail, he arrived at the police station at 11.30am on Tuesday, 22 September.

Police found that the man had no previous criminal records.

The case has been classified as animal cruelty under Section 29 (1) (a) of the Animal Welfare Act 1953 (Amendment 2013)

Bernama reported that if found guilty, the man can face a RM50,000 fine, a year's jail, or both.
