Last week, a 17-year-old girl was filmed licking a tub of ice cream and then putting it back in a Walmart store's freezer in Lufkin, Texas

In the video, while the girl is seen walking away after putting back the ice cream tub, laughing as she goes an off-camera voice of a man can be heard saying "lick it" and then "put it back, put it back"

The nine-second video that was posted on Twitter last Saturday, 29 June, has gone viral, with over 15 million views. The clip was met with a wave of outrage.

Now, teens in the US are taking after that girl's act, licking tubs of ice cream and then putting them back on the store shelves

The teens who are copying the girl for attention and going viral do not seem to care in some US states tampering with the food is a felony and carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in jail

An influencer by the name of Larz also posted a video of himself eating ice cream out of the tub with his hands and then placing it back on the store's freezer.

In fact, it's such a thing that there are those who are taking credit for the viral video of the original girl, bragging on Instagram:

"Yeah, I really did that. You can call it Flu Bell ice cream now 'cause I was a lil sick last week. Repost yourself doing this. Let's see if we can start an epidemic (literally)."

Since the video went viral, authorities identified and interviewed the girl. But because she is a juvenile, her case is being turned over to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department for consideration.

"We do not intend to pursue charges against her as an 'adult' and therefore what happens from here is at the discretion of the juvenile justice system," an officer from Lufkin police was quoted as saying by BuzzFeed News yesterday, 5 July.

However, Lufkin police said they are discussing the girl's boyfriend's involvement with prosecutors as well as the possibility that he may face charges as an adult.

Close home, a couple of boys from Nilai in Negeri Sembilan were seen in a video destroying food items at a convenience store:
