Airlines have cancelled dozens of flights across the region, including in the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan, as Typhoon Bavi continues its path towards East Asia

The storm, which formed over the western Pacific Ocean, made landfall on the Northern Mariana island of Rota earlier this week with sustained winds of up to 200km/h before moving into the Philippine Sea.

It is now tracking towards Taiwan and China's eastern coast.

According to VNExpress, the typhoon has already claimed at least five lives after triggering a landslide in the Philippines, while hundreds of residents in Taiwan have been evacuated from their homes ahead of its arrival.
