China has decided to extend its visa-free policy to 12 countries, including Malaysia

According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, the 15-day visa-free policy will be extended to 31 December 2025 for citizens of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

Citizens of these 12 countries holding ordinary passports will be allowed to enter and stay in China without visa application for up to 15 days for business, tourism, family visits, and transit purposes

Those who do not meet the purposes of visit or exceed their 15-day stay in the country are still required to apply for visas to China.

This visa-free privilege was first announced by China in November last year.

Prior to this latest announcement, the visa-free policy was going to be valid from 1 December 2023 to 30 November 2024.

As of November 2023, these are all of the travel conditions and requirements that will be enforced for inbound travellers:

1. Travellers are no longer required to fill in the Health Declaration Card.
With this, you no longer need to undergo any additional procedures related to COVID-19 or health in order to enter or leave China from abroad. However, individuals leaving or entering China who show symptoms of or have been diagnosed with an infectious disease should take initiative to declare their health status to China Customs.

2. Those visiting China for 15 days or less do not need to apply for visas.

3. Those visiting China for more than 15 days will need to have a visa before entering the country.

4. All individuals will need to fill out an arrival and departure card with details of their trip and accommodation in China.
These documents will be provided by airline staff on the airplane or at the airport at immigration. This is a standard procedure that has been in place since before the pandemic.
