Police Arrest Penang Man For Breaking Lorry's Number Plate With Metal Rod In Viral Video

On Saturday, 8 April, a road rage incident which took place on Jalan Permatang Janggus in Permatang Pauh, Penang went viral on social media
The two-minute-50-second video depicted a white lorry and a red Proton Saga brushing against each other on the road before both vehicles stopped and an argument ensued between their respective drivers.
The driver of the Proton Saga took out a metal rod from his car boot and destroyed the front number plate of the lorry before driving off.
The lorry driver can be seen picking up the pieces of his broken number plate before leaving.
The man driving the red Proton Saga has since been arrested for further investigation
Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Tan Cheng San told Bernama that the suspect, who is in his 30s, was detained on the same day.
Tan said that based on their preliminary investigations, they found that the incident happened on Jalan Permatang Janggus, heading towards Jalan Permatang Pauh.
However, the exact time of the incident has not been made certain yet.
Currently, the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
Tan also advised people not to take the law into their own hands and disrupt public peace.
