Massive LED Screen Crashes Onto 2 Cantopop Boyband Dancers During A Concert In Hong Kong
The two of the members of the Hong Kong boyband, Mirror, were sent to the hospital.
A shocking video has captured the moment a massive LED screen fell on dancers of Cantopop boyband Mirror in the middle of their performance at the Hong Kong Coliseum yesterday, 28 July
The seven-second video starts with the boyband performing their song with a choreographed dance on stage when suddenly the LED screen hanging above the stage began to shake before falling on one of the dancers.
The screen then fell flat onto another dancer.
The audience at the concert can be heard screaming before the video abruptly ends.
The concert reportedly stopped immediately and the two injured performers were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital
The screen fell when members Edan Lui Cheuk-on and Anson Lo Hon-ting were performing with about a dozen dancers, based on a report by The Standard.
According to the Associated Press, police said the two injured performers, were conscious when they were taken to the hospital.
Local media also reported the hospital as saying that one of the patients is in stable condition while the other is in serious condition and is currently being treated at the intensive care unit (ICU).
Three of the audience members were also sent to the hospital. One of them reportedly felt sick, and the other two were in a state of shock.
The incident happened during the group's fourth out of 12 scheduled concerts at the venue
Four hours after the incident, the remaining shows were then cancelled by the concert organisers, Music Nation and Maker Ville, along with a public apology, according to the Hong Kong Free Press.
They assured the public that the cause of the accident will be fully investigated and an announcement will be made as soon as possible.
"Regarding the discomfort caused to the audience and other people affected, we are deeply sorry," read the joint statement from Music Nation and Maker Ville.
The 12-member pop act has emerged as one of the most popular Cantopop groups over the past year.
Mirror had initially lined up a concert series from 25 July to 6 August at the Coliseum, one of Hong Kong's most prestigious venues for large-scale entertainment programmes. All tickets were sold out for the 12-day concert.
