MCMC Chairman, COO, And 2 Others Have Just Resigned

Their resignation is effective from 1 July 2018.

Tan Sri Halim Shafie, the chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, is among the four high-ranking MCMC officials who have tendered their resignations

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo confirmed the four officials' resignation, which he said is effective from 1 July 2018.

"Yes, it is true that they have resigned. Among them are the chairman and COO of MCMC," the Communications and Multimedia Minister told reporters in Putrajaya.

However, while Gobind revealed chairman Halim Shafie's name including COO Mazlan Ismail, he withheld the other two names

"There are two others but we will announce that later," Gobind said while declining to elaborate why did these four MCMC officials stepped down.

According to a report in The Star Online, the communications and multimedia minister had in the past expressed his dissatisfaction with MCMC over its inefficiency in dealing with several cases of data breaches.
