Ministry Of Works Says Only 1 Family Member Allowed To Go Out And Buy Essentials
People are advised to minimise outdoor activities during the RMO.
Earlier today, 21 March, Senior Minister Fadillah Yusof said that only one person should be allowed to go out to buy daily essentials
According to Fadillah, who holds the Ministry of Works portfolio, only the head of the house or one family member will be allowed to go out during the Restriction of Movement Order (RMO) period.
The minister added that this is only on the condition that the person is running errands.
"Policy-wise, under the order, only one person, which is the head of the family, should be allowed to go out to get daily essentials or medicine. That is the basic guideline," Fadillah said at a daily National Security Council (NSC) press briefing on the fourth day of RMO, as reported by Malaysiakini.
The Works Minister, however, said that if there is a need to bring someone along, the person must give a valid reason to the police
"If you have to bring someone with you in the car, you'll have to give a valid reason to the police, like if there was an emergency to attend to, or there is a death in the family or something similar," he said.
Meanwhile, Selangor residents will face additional restrictions
New Straits Times reported Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari as saying that the Selangor government has come out with more prohibitions to curb those flouting the federal gazette.
"We view it as being extremely serious. Their negligence may worsen the impact of Covid-19 and cause the outbreak to be further prolonged. As such the state through the local councils will be enforcing these new directives immediately," Amirudin was quoted as saying.
Health Minister Dr Adham has made a claim, albeit a misleading one, that drinking warm water can kill the virus that causes COVID-19:
